OVERVIEW
Available in front or rear-wheel drive, the SWB low roof
Transit is perfect for negotiating those tight city lanes
and loading bays without compromising load area or payload.
The new front-wheel-drive gives you excellent fuel economy,
a lower cargo floor for easier loading and unloading,
and a lower total height allowing greater access to covered
carparks. Alternatively, the rear-wheel-drive models are
ideal for heavier payloads or if you need superior towing
capability.
For extra load space the rear-wheel-drive mid roof option
will take you from 6.05 cubic metres to 7.48 cubic metres.

Your
mobile office Spend the best part of your day on the road and
not surprisingly, comfort becomes a priority. That’s
where Transit’s all new car-like interior is making
a strong case for better working conditions. Start with
the 6-way adjustable driver’s seat providing crucial
lumbar support. Then add standard features like air-conditioning,
CD player, power windows and power side mirrors, and journeys
are bound to be more relaxing. Overall, the cabin feels
more spacious and open to light. It’s designed specifically
to help you better manage your day with attention to detail
like a tray on the dashboard that provides a useful workspace,
a handy carpark pass holder and two 2-litre bottle holders.
Combine all this with a more than ample number of storage
compartments and it’s easy to see why Transit becomes
a very functional mobile office.
The
power to deliver Running a business can be non-stop day in and day
out. That’s why you need a van that can keep pace
with your demands. Transit’s new range of engines
ticks all the boxes when it comes to power and fuel economy.
Take the improved 2.4 litre TDCi engine with an impressive
103kW and 375Nm of torque @2000rpm. The most popular engine
in the range, this tireless diesel is available with a
six speed manual transmission on rear-wheel-drive models.
Then there’s the new 2.2 litre turbo diesel TDCi.
Available on front-wheel-drives, it delivers excellent
fuel economy while offering 81kW of power and a handy
285Nm of torque. Alternatively, there’s the new
2.3 litre petrol engine* on rear-wheel-drive models. Packing
an impressive 104kW of power, along with 206Nm of torque,
it’s got even more grunt where it counts. The fact
that it’s also LPG compatible, now makes it even
more attractive in these days of rising operating costs.
Whichever way you go, you’ll be able to hit the
ground running.

Safe
and secure You and your cargo are precious. That’s why
Transit more than delivers when it comes to safety. A
more solid body structure offers greater end-to-end strength
and surrounds you with a protective shell. Inside, a driver’s
airbag is now standard, while you can also opt for a front
passenger airbag or class-leading side airbags* for further
protection. And there’s an optional reverse sensing
system^ that provides an audible warning so you’re
aware of the proximity of objects behind the vehicle.
As for active safety features, the list reads like something
you’d expect on a premium sports car. It begins
with the latest generation ABS with Electronic Brakeforce
Distribution.^ Then there’s optional Traction Control
and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)* which give you a
greater ability to steer your way out of trouble. The
DSC system also includes two very important features.
The first is Hydraulic Brake Assist, which on sensing
an urgent brake application, increases the brake force
if the driver isn’t applying sufficient pressure.
And the second is Load Adaptive Control, which takes into
consideration the loading condition of the vehicle and
ensures the DSC is then applied accordingly. Transit also
includes innovative features such as power door deadlocks.
This safeguards your cargo by making it impossible to
open the doors from the inside should an intruder break
into the vehicle. It all adds up to make the new Transit
the safest bet for you and your business.
^Reverse sensing system is only
available with ABS on FWD Van models
*Side airbags (front only) are only available with optional
safety pack and single passenger seat.
1Available from January 2007 on FWD models 2Must be specified with optional single passenger seat
